Chhatarpur’s Bundeli folk singer Urmila Pandey has been awardedwith the Sangeet Natak Academy Award for the year 2019 for her special contribution to folk music. President Droupadi Murmu honored Pandey with Tamrapatra, Angavastram and prize money of one lakh rupees at the investiture ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present. At the event, 128 personalities were honoured with the Academy Awards for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 for their overall contribution to music, dance, theatre, puppetry and performing arts.
