The Indian Railways is ready to develop the Gandhinagar Railway Station in Gujrat. A five-star hotel will sit on the top of the railway’s tracks. The Indian Railway Development Corporation in a partnership with the Gujrat government is planning for the same.
Gujrat government is working on a new vision that will reform the Gandhinagar Railway station. It will be not less than any international, 24-hour travel hub.
Speaking about the Railway hotel plan Railway board Chief VK Yadav said, “ It’s a unique model, the design has been made in a way that no vibrations or noise by trains will be felt by the people in the hotel. It will be designed very precisely in complimenting the development of the city Gandhinagar.”
The five-star hotel will be run by the Leela Group of hotels. The hotel will stand on pillars above the railway tracks in the Railway station. The luxury hotel will have 300 rooms. The ground floor will be constructed 22 meters above land. The towers will give an impression of petals as seen from the top. This will also give Gandhinagar one of the tallest buildings in the city.
This plan of the hotel above the Railway track isn’t new but it will be first in India. It will be the first five-star hotel in Gandhinagar which will be above The Railway track.
The hotel was set to be completed in December 2020. The covid pandemic has delayed the renovation project. As per the Leela Gandhinagar hotel website, the hotel will be opening soon.
