The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) arrested EPFO regional commissioner Satish Kumar posted in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh while taking bribe of Rs. 5 lakh from a entrepreneur of a private firm.
Anirudh Pimplapure of BR & Company, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh made a complaint to the EOW office in Sagar against EPFO regional commissioner Satish Kumar demanding bribe of Rs. 10 lakh to prepare in proper format a report of the firm, the EOW note said.
Kumar was caught red handed while accepting a first installment of Rs. 5 lakh from the applicant Pimplapure at his residence, the EOW official said.
The officer is booked under provision of Prevention of Corruption Act.
Interestingly, the private firm reportedly received best employer and Pimplapure was felicitated for labour welfare by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on the International Labour Day observed last month.
