Navi Mumbai naturalists have griped against the hindering of flowing water to the 35ha Talawe wetlands that they guarantee is prompting the vanishing of flamingoes from Navi Mumbai.
The between flowing water is as a rule over and again hindered, making the stale water at Talawe wetlands unsatisfactory for these birds, they guaranteed.
The State CM Uddhav Thackeray, after getting an email, has asked the Urban Development and Environment divisions to investigate the greens’ grievances.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has plans to get the ‘Flamingo City’ tag for the city, which the activists asserted would be troublesome as these birds have evaporated from the essential wetlands.
“The CM has denoted the mail explicitly to Environment Principal Secretary, Manisha Mhaiskar, and Urban Development Secretary, Mahesh Pathak,” NatConnect Foundation chief, BN Kumar, said.
In the interim, the Union Environment Ministry has again asked the Maharashtra Wetland Authority just as its State partner to investigate the green activists’ objections of annihilation of the two wetlands, Talawe (or NRI) and TS Chanakya, and requested that they record an Action Taken Report.
The State Mangrove Cell, as well, manifested interest to save the two wetlands alongside Belpada, Bhendkhal and Panje wetlands of Uran, according to a BNHS plan, to keep up with them under the Thane Creek Flamingo Satellite Sanctuary Project.
“It is profoundly upsetting that fake bunds are impeding the flowing water stream into the NRI and TS Chanakya wetlands in a sensation that this has happened before of the harm of Uran’s Panje wetland,” Kumar said.
“We have not seen any similarity to flamingoes as of late at these wetlands,” said Dharmesh Barai, who brought up that mangroves are being slashed and tossed into the wetlands.
The greens claimed that as opposed to protecting these wetlands, CIDCO was arranging formative exercises here.
Excusing the charges of impeding flowing water, CIDCO PRO, Priya Ratambe, said, “CIDCO is focused on protecting the climate. All means taken by CIDCO are as per the fair treatment of the law.”
