Kamran Akmal, a veteran Pakistani cricketer, has expressed his disappointment over Sanju Samson’s poor batting performance in Sri Lanka’s 2-1 victory in the three-match T20I series on Thursday. Only five batters were available for India’s final two games, and none of them were able to hold their own against the host bowling attack. Shikhar Dhawan and Sanju Samson were out for ducks in the third T20I, while Ruturaj Gaikwad was the only batsman to reach double figures.
As a result, India were restricted to 81/8, their third-lowest team total in T20Is. Sri Lanka went on to win the match by 7 wickets, and the series by 2-1.
With Wanindu Hasaranga’s leg spin, Sanju Kumar continued to disappoint his fans, as he missed the final chance to prove himself before the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. It was the perfect opportunity for the Indian batsman, Akmal said in his YouTube video.
“There were a lot of expectations from Sanju Samson to perform and take India out of the pressure situation. He has ample experience having scored three hundreds in the IPL and also has experience of playing domestic cricket. But unfortunately, in international cricket, we aren’t able to see the focus and shots that he shows in the IPL. He couldn’t have got a better opportunity to prove himself,” Kamran Akmal stated.
Asif Ali, a Pakistani cricketer, praised Hasaranga, who finished the T20Is as the series’ leading wicket-taker and was named Player of the Series by Cricket Australia. As a result, Akmal emphasised the spinner’s ability to take wickets in the middle of innings.
“Since the time Hasaranga arrived in Sri Lankan cricket, he is dominating world cricket. At home, in the West Indies and in Pakistan too he was picking wickets. It is a good thing for Sri Lanka cricket that after Muralitharan there is come a spinner who can pick wickets in the middle-overs,” Akmal concluded.
