New Delhi: In a matter related to the September 2008 serial bomb blasts in the National Capital, a Delhi court fixed the charges related to conspiracy and terrorism against Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and one of his associates.
In these bomb blasts, 26 people were killed and 135 others were injured. Additional Sessions Judge Siddharth Sharma initiated a lawsuit against Bhatkal and his associate Asadullah Akhtar in connection with various crimes under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Indian Penal Code and Explosive Substances Act. The current case relates to the double bomb blast in Delhi’s Greater Kailash-1 M-Block market, in which nine people were injured. In the charges framed by the court, the charges under various sections including criminal conspiracy (120 B) under the Indian Penal Code and the conspiracy of terrorist acts under Section 24 (Section 18) have been framed. The court will hear the next hearing on February 28. The accused did not accept their crime and talked of fighting the case. On behalf of the accused, advocate MS Khan was lobbying.Police had said that Bhatkal and Akhtar were part of the conspiracy to blast various places on 13th September 2008 in Delhi along with others. The police claimed that the accused carried out a war against India by carrying out terrorist attacks.
