The Ministry of Defense approved the purchase of 7.40 lac Assault Rifles for the cost of 12,280 crores for the three components of the Army. This information was provided by officers.
This decision was taken in the meeting of Defense Purchase Council (DAC) under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Officials said that the Ministry of Defense will purchase light machine guns at a cost of Rs 1,819 crore.
In other decisions, proposal for purchase of 5,719 sniper rifles was also approved for the army costing Rs 982 crore.
the government has approved the purchase of 131 Barrack missiles for the 240 Air Force for the precision targeting bombs and the Navy. A total of 1,714 crore will be made in this purchase.
The Defense Ministry said that Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has approved two purchase proposals.
The bombs coming in the category of precise guided missiles are being bought at Russia’s M / s JSC Rosenoboron Exports at a cost of Rs 1,254 crores.
