Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his second dose of the Covid vaccine today at Delhi’s AIIMS, 37 days after receiving his first, and urged all those willing to be immunized against the deadly virus.
On March 1, Prime Minister Modi was the first to benefit from the national vaccine, which was expanded to people over the age of 60 and those over the age of 45 with other illnesses.
The Prime Minister, who tweeted a snapshot of his vaccine, said a Covid injection is one of few ways to combat the virus. Unlike the previous time, PM Modi was seen sporting a face mask as he took the clip.
“Today I received my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Vaccination is one of the few options for combating the virus. If you are fit for the vaccine, get it as soon as possible “PM Modi tweeted and shared a link to the CoWin website, which serves as a registration portal for the vaccine.
PM Modi has used a home-grown Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which has been related to vaccine hesitancy due to its clinical trial status.
The Prime Minister received his second vaccination dose from two nurses, one of whom had both given him his first injection. P Niveda, who was the lead nurse the last time, was seen in the picture carrying PM Modi’s arm as Nisha Sharma administered the injection.
India has been steadily extending its vaccine policy. The nation began immunizations for frontline and healthcare staff, then expanded to those over 60 and others over 45 with other illnesses. In the most recent round, everybody above the age of 45 is being immunized. About nine crore people have been immunized so far.
PM Modi received his second dose hours before his meeting with Chief Ministers later this evening, where he is expected to assess the ongoing vaccination campaign and the country’s recent troubling increase in coronavirus cases.
