Dhule, Washim, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Wardha, and Gondia districts in Maharashtra have fewer than ten active cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), while only seven districts, including Pune and Ahmednagar, account for the majority of infections in the state, according to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and his cabinet. Maharashtra has 36 districts in total, making it the worst-affected state in India by the pandemic.
According to PTI, there are currently no active cases in the Nandurbar district, with fewer than 100 infected patients being treated in Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Amravati, Akola, Buldana, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli. According to the official, Maharashtra’s weekly Covid-19 positivity rate was 2.44 percent, with Ratnagiri and Kolhapur districts initially showing a concerning trend, but their Covid-19 growth rate eventually fell below the state’s weekly positivity rate.
The coronavirus disease has so far resulted in 6,406,345 cases, 135,413 deaths, and 6,209,364 recoveries in Maharashtra. According to the health department’s bulletin, the state saw a slight increase in its daily Covid-19 tally on Wednesday, with 5,132 cases reported in the last 24 hours, 158 more patients dying and 8,196 recovering from the viral disease. There are 58,069. active cases in Maharashtra.
Until now, the authorities have administered 50,752,443 vaccine doses to eligible beneficiaries, with 37,444,743 receiving only the first dose and the remaining 13,307,700 receiving both doses. On Wednesday, the above-mentioned official told PTI that the vaccination rate for beneficiaries aged 18 to 44 was 25%, while more than half of the state’s population aged 45 and up had received at least one dose of the vaccine.
The Maharashtra government, meanwhile, said on Wednesday the second wave of the pandemic is under control in the state and chief minister Uddhav Thackeray urged all citizens to follow Covid-19 protocols in order to prevent the third wave. “In view of the upcoming festive season, citizens should ensure that they follow all the Covid-19 rules and take all precautions to ensure that the third wave is prevented,” Thackeray said. Expressing concerns over political gatherings in the state, he urged all parties to avoid such gatherings.
