The Competent Court at Patna has sentenced B.B.Rai, then General Manager(Telecom), Patna & Rampati Chikhaiyar, then TDE, both to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.Six Lakh each and Perwez Ahmad, Proprietor of M/s Nalanda Telecom Service, Patna to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.16 Lakh.
CBI had registered the instant case on 29.01.1996 against B.B.Rai, GM(Telecom), Patna and others.It was alleged that B.B.Rai, while working as Director(Officiating), Telecom South, Gaya had awarded a contract for repair of faulty EPBT Cards to M/s Nalanda Telecom Service, without going through the laid down formalities. After investigation, Chargesheet was filed on 26.03.2002 against five accused in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patna including those three who have been convicted/sentenced now. Two other chargesheeted accused died during trial.
The Trial Court found said accused guilty and convicted them.
