After testing positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), according to a statement released by the hospital on Sunday.

After the opening week of the budget, the session was washed out amid protests over rising fuel prices, the two Houses of Parliament resumed regular sessions after the opposition parties agreed to join in proceedings at a meeting convened by Birla.
According to two opposition leaders, Birla told them that while problems such as fuel price hikes and farm rules are important to them, an urgent business that requires constitutional approval must be completed.

Birla also stated that no Parliament could debate legislation enacted by other countries’ legislatures or matters concerning their sovereignty.
His comments came just days after British lawmakers addressed the Indian farmers’ strike.
Birla claimed that India has always worked for global peace and tranquility and that India has openly asserted its policy against global terrorism and expansionism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
