The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a blistering attack on the Congress-led administration in Chhattisgarh, claiming that it has failed miserably on all fronts.

Raman Singh, a BJP politician and former chief minister of Chhattisgarh, has asked the Congress government to produce a white paper on the state’s financial status.

“In these 2.5 years, the Congress government has completely failed on all fronts. The economic situation of the state was dire and development works had come to a standstill. The government should issue a white paper on the financial situation of Chhattisgarh,” says Raman Singh.

BJP scrape up ‘2.5-year formula’

Meanwhile, BJP officials drew attention to the so-called “2.5-year formula,” which purports to be a pledge by the Congress to divide the chief ministerial term between Baghel and Singh (state health minister TS Singh Deo).

Taking to Twitter, BJP MP Saroj Pandey asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi whether Singh Deo will be taking oath as Chhattisgarh CM on Friday as Bhupesh Baghel had completed his 2.5 years of rule. “Or is this a promise to him (Singh Deo) similar to that made with my Chhattisgarh people with Gangajal in hand,” Pandey asked.

Earlier on Wednesday, the BJP legislature party had also asked Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi to make the position of the party clear on the ‘2.5-year formula’ of chief ministers in the state.

However, Chhattisgarh minister Ravindra Choubey has dismissed the speculations saying no such formula exists, and there is no discussion or chance of any changes at the top. The Congress government will complete its five-year tenure under CM Baghel he said.

Baghel was the face of the Chhattisgarh Congress and that the party will be in power in the state for 20 years, he added.
