Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the last month of the financial year is important from the point of view of collection of various taxes.
The departments have collected more tax than last year, he said.
He told to put in more efforts this month for better achievements at the end of the financial year.
Chouhan on Thursday reviewed the work of revenue collecting departments and efforts to achieve the target in the Sankalp Kaksh of Samatva Bhavan. Finance Minister Jagdish Deora joined virtually.
Senior officers of the departments including Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains were present.
Chouhan sought information about the work done so far for the collection of taxes by the VAT, GST including Excise, Stamp Registration, Mineral, Transport, Energy, Forest, Public Property Management, Revenue, Water Resources and Narmada Valley Development Departments in the state.
Chouhan instructed that those departments which have shortfall in the expected revenue, should conduct campaigns as per the requirement and achieve the set target.
It was told that Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states in the country in terms of tax collection.
The trend of regular payment of taxes has developed in the business industry and among the common people in the state.
A large part of the amount received from taxes is spent in public welfare.
