Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated to mark 75 years of Independence, planted 75 saplings were planted in the holy city of Amarkantak at Anuppur today.
Along with CM Chouhan, students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Amarkantak planted 75 saplings of different species under the programme ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’.
It is noteworthy that Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign is being celebrated from August 9 to 15 as the closing ceremony of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.
Under the campaign, establishment of Shilaphalakam (memorial) in school campuses, making India a self-reliant and developed nation, strengthening the unity of the country and performing one’s duty, planting saplings around public places under Vasudha Vandan, saluting the heroes and activities like hoisting the national flag and reciting the national anthem are being carried out. Commissioner Shahdol Division Rajiv Sharma, ADGP Shahdol DC Sagar, Collector Ashish Vashisht, former MLA Sudama Singh and other public representatives were present.
