Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed all urban bodies to make elaborate arrangements in view of the cold weather.
He said that bonfires should be arranged every shelter and public place for protection from cold.
Hot water for taking bath, quilts and blankets for covering should be provided in shelters.
Make sure to transport the homeless to the shelter in a convenient manner by making rounds through mobile vans at night.
It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister had recently inspected the night shelter located at Shahjahani Park in the capital.
Chouhan has directed that in such urban bodies where there are no permanent shelter sites, it should be ensured that shelter and other relief is provided to all the urban homeless by starting a temporary shelter in a rented building or in any vacant building under the authority of the body.
Chouhan instructed for proper arrangements should be made for medical check-up of the beneficiaries staying in the shelter sites in co-ordination with the Health Department, timely disinfection of the shelter sites should be ensured and beneficiaries should be made aware about safety measures to be taken to deal with the effects of the pandemic.
Instructions have also been given by the Chief Minister to display the helpline number and the numbers of the manager and caretaker posted in the shelter at a public place, so that the general public can participate in taking the urban homeless to the shelter. In this regard, the Urban Development and Housing Department has issued comprehensive guidelines to all urban bodies.
During the last 24 hours, most of the districts in Rewa, Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions of Madhya Pradesh and at many places rainfall was recorded, while at a few places in districts of Namdapuram and Sagar divisions and the weather remained mainly mild in the districts of all the remaining divisions.
