The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is a Bihar-based party formed by the former Union Minister Late Ram Vilas Paswan. It is suffering the most serious existential crisis. Chirag Paswan’s LJP which is led by his uncle underwent an overnight coup, leaving him isolated, with five of his MPs breaking away and writing to Lok Sabha Speaker, requesting to be treated as a separate group. Chirag Paswan drove to his uncle’s house to speak with him, but he remained in his car. Mr. Paras didn’t even come out to greet him.
Reports have shown that S/O Ram Vilas Paswan and LJP leader Chirag Paswan are probably dismissed by the MPs of his party. From a position as head of the Lok Sabha Parliamentary Party. Pashupati Kumar Paras, in response to the developments, firmly denied breaking the party. He stated, “There is no insurrection within the party”.
‘This is completely incorrect. LJP is our own Bihar’s party & the organization remains strong. Our party has six members of Parliament. Five members of Parliament intended to save the party. So I haven’t broken the party; in fact, I have saved it. My nephew, Chirag Paswan, is also the party’s national president. I don’t have anything against him.’
According to insiders, Nitish Kumar has already been working on the remainder of the LJP MPs through Maheshwar Hazari, a party official with ties to the Paswans, and his close sidekick Lalan Singh. In the next days, the rebels may back the Chief Minister’s Janata Dal-United (JDU), which includes Chirag Paswan’s cousin Prince Raj, Chandan Singh, Veena Devi, and Mehboob Ali Kaiser.
Chirag Paswan refused to recognize the warning signs and didn’t take reports of impending defections from his parliamentary party seriously, even when the LJP’s single MLA joined Mr. Kumar’s party, insiders claim, adding that his “overconfidence and aloofness” cost him. “Chirag has eight private corporations with properties both in the United States and abroad. Soon, I’ll reveal how Chirag invested money obtained through corruption in his businesses in an attempt to turn his black money into white,” says Keshav Singh. Chirag Paswan, according to Keshav Singh, would be arrested soon on corruption charges.
In Bihar, more than 200 LJP leaders joined the Janata Dal-United (JDU) in February. At a press conference, JD(U) national president RCP Singh announced the induction of 208 LJP leaders. Former state general secretary Keshav Singh, who had been in mutiny against Chirag Paswan and had been predicting the party’s demise for some time, was the most renowned of the turncoats.
After joining the JD(U), Keshav Singh slammed LJP head Chirag Paswan, stating that after his father Ram Vilas Paswan died, he was operating the party like a corporation.
