China recorded the largest daily count of new coronavirus cases in its current epidemic on Friday, owing to an increase in locally transmitted illnesses.
According to the National Health Commission, 124 new confirmed coronavirus cases were recorded in mainland China on Aug. 5. That’s up from 85 a day earlier.
According to the health authorities, 80 of the new confirmed illnesses were locally transmitted, up from 62 instances a day earlier.
A rise in infections in eastern Jiangsu province, which recorded 61 new cases on Aug. 5, up from 40 the day before, fueled the local cases. Yangzhou was the epicenter of new illnesses.
China reported 58 new asymptomatic coronavirus cases, up from 54 the day before.
There have been no additional deaths recorded.
As of the 5th of August, mainland China has 93,498 confirmed cases. The total number of people who have died remains at 4,636.
