China on Thursday blocked a fresh move to tag terror king Masood Azhar as a global terrorist at UN Security Council for the 4th time.

Post the February 14 Pulwama attack, the US, UK, and France had moved a new proposal to blacklist the Jaish-e-Mohammad chief at the UNSC.
While the analysts had different views on what the East Asian giant’s next move will be in response to it, ultimately China, also an ally to Pakistan, ended up blocking the UN Security Council’s move to designate Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.
China has also blocked the same proposal in 2009, 2016 and 2017.
2009: India moved a proposal at UN by itself to designate JeM chief Masood Azhar.
2016: India again moved the proposal with the P3 – the US, UK and France, in the UN’s 1267 Sanctions Committee to ban Azhar.
2017: P3 nations moved a similar proposal again.
This was the first time when such a proposal was brought immediately after a terror attack.
China, on all these occasions, who is also the veto-wielding permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has blocked India’s proposal.
