A fire broke out at Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences Institute (CIMS) on Tuesday. The fire department reached immediately on the spot and flames were put out within 40 minutes.
Official reported, “Three employees of Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) became unconscious due to inhalation of smoke after an area of the hospital got caught in the fire.”
As per the officials, the three employees are identified as Iqbal, Rudra and Upendra
During the flames were still blazing, 40 children from the pediatric ward of the hospital were shifted elsewhere.
Officers also reported , “The fire could have been caused due to a short circuit.”
They included, “The fire started at the power control unit located under the paediatric ward in the hospital. All the children were moved to safety, but three employees who were involved in the fire-fighting operation, fainted due to suffocation. They were admitted to the same hospital for treatment.”
Many children from the hospital were shifted to a private hospital, keeping in mind that their ongoing treatment can’t be put at interrupted.
Superintendent of CIMS, Dr Bhanupratap, told sources, “A newborn baby died on Tuesday during treatment, but the incident of fire has nothing to do with it.”
He included, “The baby had been shifted to CIMS from a private hospital in a critical condition on Monday and died during treatment.”
