Following the launch of the Chhattisgarh government’s Covid-19 vaccination platform for people aged 18 to 44, the state government is now issuing vaccination certificates featuring Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s picture.
Questions have been asked about the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that was recently printed on vaccination certificates released by the Centre’s CoWin application.
The Chhattisgarh government unveiled the ‘CG Teeka’ Web Portal on May 12 to encourage people aged 18 to 44 to get vaccinated. People who do not have access to smartphones or the internet will register for Covid-19 vaccination at ‘Help Desks’ set up at panchayats, urban bodies, municipal corporations, and other locations.
TS Singhdeo, the health minister of Chhattisgarh, said that no one should object to the photograph of Chief Minister Baghel because the state government is funding vaccinations for people aged 18 to 44.
“If the Centre can use PM Modi’s photo for the vaccination certificates that they support, why can’t a state government use the CM’s photo for the vaccination certificates that the state funds?” “I don’t believe anybody should object,” Singhdeo said.
BJP spokesperson Gaurishankar Srivas said that the state government is only working for the photo opportunity, and that now is not the time for photo shoots and advertisements.
“It’s a shame that the government is working on these photo opportunities when the citizens of the state are struggling. People are dying in rural Chhattisgarh, so the government can work on the ground,” Srivas said.
