On Tuesday, the Uttarakhand government postponed its decision to reopen the Char Dham Yatra for residents of three districts: Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi.
Subodh Uniyal, Uttarakhand Government Spokesperson and Cabinet Minister, said that the Char Dham Yatra is now being heard at the Nainital High Court. The state government will reconsider opening the yatra after June 16, he added.
This comes a day after Uniyal had announced that the residents of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi have been permitted to visit the Char Dham sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri-Yamunotri, respectively.
For the Char Dham Yatra, the state government made a negative RTPCR report necessary. On Monday, the Uttarakhand government extended the COVID-19 curfew in the hill state for another week, till June 22.
Markets will be open three days a week and sweet stores for five days during the extended shutdown. Autos have been permitted to operate in cities, and revenue courts have been established.
