Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the Indian culture is immersed in every nook and corner of Chanderi.
He reiterated commitment for the comprehensive development in Chanderi.
He said while addressing the programme to dedicate the country’s first “Craft Handloom Tourism Village” in Chanderi, Ashoknagar.
CM Dr. Yadav attributed India’s distinctive global identity to the remarkable leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Lord Shri Ram’s temple in Ayodhya has been established and now the establishment of Lord Shri Krishna’s temple in Mathura awaits.
Influenced by the distinguished Prime Minister Shri Modi, whose initiatives have elevated the Mahakal Temple to international renown with the construction of Mahalok, the state government is committed to extending similar development efforts to all religious sites.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav affirmed a comprehensive approach aimed at increasing farmers’ income through animal husbandry, ensuring top-tier healthcare facilities for the underprivileged, and prioritising all developmental endeavors.
Additionally, Dr. Yadav announced the establishment of new excellence colleges in Nai Sarai and Shadora, aimed at providing elevated educational opportunities for students in Chanderi.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated and dedicated 42 development initiatives worth over Rs 301 crore in Chanderi, Mungaoli and Ashoknagar.
These include inauguration of 8 development initiatives worth more than Rs 228 crore and dedication of 34 development and public welfare works worth more than Rs 72 crore.
Union Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the cultural heritage from Ujjain to Chanderi has a rich and enduring history of pride.
While Tansen’s city is Gwalior, Baiju Bawra’s city is Chanderi. No stone will be left unturned to establish Chanderi as a tourism hub in Madhya Pradesh.
Scindia visited “Craft Handloom Tourism Village” at Shuttle Chowk in Pranpur village.
He interacted with the families traditionally indulged in handloom work in Pranpur village.
After apprising himself about the specialties of handloom, Saris and suit clothes, he congratulated the families for preserving the art for generations and wished them a bright future.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Tourism and Religious Trusts and Endowments, Dharmendra Singh Lodhi said that the history of Chanderi is a history of valour and pride.
He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for bestowing gifts of development to Chanderi.
Additional Managing Director Tourism Board Shri Vivek Shrotriya highlighted the Craft Handloom Tourism Village project in his welcome address.
An exhibition on handloom products of the state was organised by the Weavers Service Centre, Indore of the Ministry of Textile Government of India at the venue of the programme.
In the exhibition, the state’s traditional Chanderi Sari, Maheshwari Sari, woven cotton stole, Sarangpur Chadar, Chakdhariya Baiga Sari were displayed along with natural dyed and hand block printed Saris.
MP Guna Shri KP Yadav along with other public representatives, local officials and a large number of general public were present in the programme.
Through collaborative efforts of the MP Tourism Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and the MP Government, the “Craft Handloom Tourism Village” in Pranpur-Chandepari has been meticulously developed at a cost of Rs 7 crore 45 lakh.
The primary aim is to safeguard the indigenous artistry of local weavers and craftsmen while fostering avenues for product sales.
An engaging center within the Craft Handloom Tourism Village project will enlighten tourists about local crafts and weaving traditions, enhancing their appreciation of these cultural treasures.
Marketing platforms are also being provided to weavers through fairs and exhibitions.
Necessary facilities will be provided for online sales. Weavers will also be given training in skill development and marketing.
With the aim of making Madhya Pradesh self-reliant, the state government is continuously making efforts to boost employment opportunities.
The priority is to provide a market while preserving the art of weavers and craftsmen.
It not only keeps our traditional arts alive but also contributes to the rural economy.
Pranpur, village of weavers and craftsmen
Pranpur village is a picturesque place in the foothills of Chanderi at a distance of approximately 4 kms.
The specialty of this village is that most of the families in the village (in 243 houses) are associated with weaving art, their houses and working handlooms are still being used for two-three generations.
Apart from this, there are more than fifty craftsmen in the village who are involved in crafts of bamboo, wood, stone, jewelery and clay.
This is a centre of special attraction for tourists.
As part of the project, the village’s aged unpaved access road has been refurbished with locally sourced stones.
Upon arrival, tourists can drive to a designated drop-off point within the village and embark on an enchanting tour.
A dedicated parking area has been established for convenience. Additionally, a charming cafeteria named “Handloom Café” has been erected specifically to cater to tourists.
Furthermore, public amenities and ample parking facilities have been provided, ensuring accessibility for all, including men, women, and individuals with disabilities..
A garden has been developed for the facilities and entertainment of tourists. In which an amphitheater has been constructed.
Here cultural groups of the local community will present cultural programmes for the tourists from time to time.
