According to senior state politician T.S. Singh Deo, the subject of Chhattisgarh Chief Ministership would be resolved by the Congress leadership and party President Sonia Gandhi, since it is their prerogative.
Singh Deo, who is in Delhi for family functions and routine checkups, said: “I have not raised any issue regarding the Chief Ministership as it is the Congress leadership that will decide on the issue.”
He said there is no need to take up the matter with the party as they are well aware of everything, but rubbished claims that he is in Delhi to meet Sonia Gandhi, saying that he was in Medanta for routine checkups on Tuesday and has personal engagements on Wednesday.
After the Congress took power in Chhatisgarh in 2018, it was announced that Bhupesh Baghel would serve as Chief Minister for half of the term and Singh Deo would serve for the remainder.
The deadline has passed, but the Congress high command has yet to make a decision, and supporters of Singh Deo, the state’s Health Minister, are pressing their demands through various channels including social media.
While the Congress leadership is preoccupied with resolving conflicts in Punjab and Rajasthan, the state of Chhattisgarh has been pushed to the sidelines.
