In a major crackdown during the intensive checking campaign on Tuesday, Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (Central Discom) took action against those who were using electricity unauthorizedly by putting direct wires in Bhopal city.
A case was registered against Ramswaroop Rajput, the operator of Reliable Path Lab located in Jain Nagar of Lalghati area, under Section 135 of Electricity Act 2003 and a recovery bill of Rs. 3 lakh 95 thousand was issued.
It is worth noting that these days Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company is running intensive checking campaign against electricity thieves in the company area and strict action is being taken by registering cases of electricity theft, unauthorized tariff use and meter bypass.
In the same sequence, during checking in the basement of Reliable Path Lab building located at Jain Nagar, Lalghati, M.No. 234 under Imamigate Zone under North Division of City Circle Bhopal, electricity was being stolen unauthorizedly by putting direct wires for non-domestic use.
The company found that the tenant Ramswaroop Rajput was using 7.745 kilowatt electricity load for non-domestic purposes (Path Lab) in the premises of Pratik Badkul for unauthorized use.
The company’s assistant manager Mr. Arun Sharma and the investigation team registered a case of direct electricity theft under Section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003 on the spot and disconnected the electricity supply and issued a bill of Rs. 3 lakh 95 thousand to the lab operator on the spot.
It is worth mentioning that if the recovery amount issued by the electricity company to the lab operator against the theft is not deposited, then the case will be registered in the special electricity court.
There is a provision of imprisonment up to 3 years for not depositing the amount in cases of electricity theft.
The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company has requested all the common people to use electricity only by taking a valid connection. Do not use electricity unauthorizedly or illegally.
Electricity theft is a punishable offense and there is also a provision of fine and imprisonment.
