The Central Board of Secondary Education denied claims on Friday (May 14) that the board was planning to cancel the Class 12 CBSE board exams in 2021. The board announced today that it has not yet made a decision on class 12 board exams, despite the fact that a section of students and parents have demanded that exams be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Earlier in the day, many media outlets reported that the board is likely to postpone the CBSE class 12th test for this year due to an increase in COVID-19 incidents. Following the spread of this news on social media, many questions arose in the minds of students who are qualified to sit for the 12th board exam.
“It is explained that no such announcement (exam cancellation) has been made regarding the class 12 board test, as previously speculated. Any decision made in this matter will be conveyed to the public in writing “According to a senior CBSE official, The official was referring to a query about the prospect of canceling class 12 board exams in response to demands from a group of students and parents concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The board had declared the suspension of class 10 exams and the postponement of class 12 exams on April 14 due to an increase in COVID-19 incidents. The decision was reached at a high-level meeting presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The tests, which are normally held in February-March each year, are scheduled to begin on May 4. “The class 12 exams have been rescheduled, and the condition will be reviewed after June 1. Before the tests, students will be given at least 15 days’ notice “According to a board official at the time.
The CBSE revealed the marking strategy for class 10 board exams earlier this month.
According to the policy, while 20 marks will be assigned to each subject for internal examination, 80 marks will be determined based on the students’ success in different assessments or exams during the year.
In March of last year, schools across the country were suspended to contain the spread of COVID-19 ahead of a national lockout. Several states began partly reopening schools in October of last year, but physical classes were again canceled due to an increase in coronavirus cases.
