The Special Court (CBI) Patna has sentenced Nakul Mandal to undergo five years rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 5000, Mandareswar Bhagat & Arvind Ravidas to undergo four years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs. 5000 each.

The CBI registered a case in compliance to the orders of the Patna High Court, passed in CWJC No. 9847/98 related to scam in State Education Department, Bihar.

It was alleged that accused got themselves appointed as Primary Teachers & other Teachers in Bihar by way of cheating, forgery, creating false testimonials and impersonation in conspiracy with some middlemen & District/Block Education Officials of Bhagalpur/Banka Districts during 1982 to 1988 and salaries were also drawn against these fraudulently appointed teachers.

After investigation, chargesheets were filed against the accused.

In the instant case, chargesheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patna on 20.12.2003 against three accused.

It was found during investigation that Nakul Mandal (private person); his relative Mandareswar Bhagat and Arvind Ravidas, (both Assistant Teachers) conspired amongst themselves to cheat Education Deptt., Bhagalpur (Bihar) by way of obtaining appointment in favour of Nakul Mandal, as Primary Teacher in Primary School, Mayurnachan, Katoria, Banka posing as Udeswar Harijan and fraudulently drew salary, the official note said.

The Trial Court found the said accused guilty and convicted them.
