The Special Court (CBI), Lucknow(Uttar Pradesh) has convicted Satya Pal Sharma (Lt Colonel), then Commander works engineer (CWE), MES, Allahabad/(Colonel Admn. Command Station, Srinagar), Y. K. UppaI, then Garrison Engineer (West), Allahabad, K.S. Saini (Lt Colonel) then Garrison Engineer (West) Allahabad, Virendra Kumar Jain,then Garrison Engineer (East), Allahabad, S.S. Thakkar(Major), then Garrison Engineer (Air Force), Bamrauli, Allahabad & Ashok Kumar Deora, Anil Kumar Deora, Pawan Kumar Deora,all Proprietors/Partners of different fictitious firms, and sentenced them to undergo three years imprisonment.
CBI had registered the instant case against Lt. Colonel S.P. Sharma, then Commander Works Engineer (CWE), Military Engineering Services (MES), Allahabad & other officials working under CWE, Allahabad and Proprietors/Partners of various fictitious private firms on the allegations of huge local purchase at exorbitant rates to the tune of Rs. 3.82 Crore(approx) in violation of laid down guidelines during the period November-1983 to November-1985.
After investigation, a chargesheet was filed against the accused before the Competent Court.
The Trial Court found the said accused guilty and convicted them.
