The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Central GST, Kolhapur Superintendent Mahesh Nesarikar and Inspector Amit Kumar Mishra were arrested in a bribe case.
The CBI laid the trap and the Central GST inspector was caught of taking bribe amount of Rs. 50000 from the complainant.
A case was registered on April 28, 2022 against the superintendent and an Inspector, both posted at the Central GST, Jaisingpur, district Kolhapur (Maharashtra) on a complaint.
It was alleged the superintendent Central GST, Jaisingpur demanded Rs. 75,000 from the complainant through his Tax Consultant to settle the matter regarding his service tax liability for the year 2017-18 to 2020-21.
It was further alleged both the accused officers negotiated the bribe amount with the complainant & his Tax Consultant and fixed the same to Rs. 50,000.
Later, the Superintendent was also caught. Searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused at Jaisingpur and Kolhapur which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
Both the arrested accused persons are being produced before the special court, Jaisingpur in district Kolhapur, the official note said.
In another case, the CBI arrested State Tax officer Circle Kathua(J&K) Ramneek Singh for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.13,000 from the Complainant.
A case was registered on a complaint against the accused on allegations of demanding bribe.
It was alleged that the Complainant had filed applications with State GST office, Circle Kathua for claiming refund of excess balance in electronic cash ledger and for taking registration under GST for his new firm.
It was further alleged that the State Taxes Officer, Circle Kathua demanded bribe of Rs.15,000 from the Complainant for processing his refund claim and the matter of GST registration. Later, the bribe was negotiated at Rs.13,000.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the State Taxes Officer red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.13,000 from the complainant. Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused at Kathua, Jammu and Samba. The arrested accused will be produced before the designated court.
