The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested one more absconding accused Sashi Bhushan Singh from Muzzafarpur (Bihar) in an ongoing investigation of a case related to murder of Tapan Kandu, then Councillor from Jhalda Municipality (West Bengal). One 0.32 pistol and 18 cartridges were recovered from him.
The said arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the CJM, Purulia (West Bengal).

CBI had registered the instant case on 06.04.2022 in pursuant to the orders dated 04.04.2022 of High Court at Calcutta in W.P.A.No. 5418 of 2022 of deceased person’s wife against unknown miscreants and taken over the investigation of the case earlier registered at Jhalda Police Station vide crime no.38 of 2022, relating to alleged murder of Tapan Kandu, Councillor from Jhalda Municipality.
After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 13.06.2022 before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Purulia against 05 accused.
Further investigation was kept open on certain issues including role of other absconding accused & larger conspiracy, if any, etc.
During further investigation, one accused who was absconding and evading investigation, was arrested on 03.09.2022 from Bokaro.
He was remanded to Police Custody by the Competent Court.
Investigation is continuing.
