The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested eight persons accused including mastermind & solvers in a case related to mass rigging in the NEET UG-2022 examination held on 17.07.2022 (Sunday).
The NEET UG-2022 by NTA under Ministry of Education (Govt of India) for the admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS and other undergraduate medical courses.
A case was registered against 11 accused on the allegations related to mass rigging in the NEET UG – 2022 conducted on 17.07.2022 (Sunday) by NTA under the Ministry of Education, Government of India (Gol) for the admission in MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS/ BSMS/ BUMS/ BHMS & other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/ Dental/ AYUSH and other colleges/deemed Universities/Institutes (AIIMS & JIPMER) in India.
The eight persons arrested including Sushil Ranjan (mastermind) r/o Gautam Niwas, Gautamnagar, Delhi (apprehended from outside of Havelock Square exam center, New Delhi), Krishna Shankar Yogi & Sunny Ranjan (both caught from examination center at Sector-8, Faridabad), Nidhi (caught from examination center at a school in Havelock Square, New Delhi), Jeepu Lal (caught from examination center at a school in Kundan Colony, Ballabhgarh, Haryana), Raghunandan (caught from examination center at a Senior Secondary School, Patparganj, New Delhi), Bharat Singh (apprehended from Safdarjung hospital hostel) and Saurabh (caught from examination centre Govt Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, Shakurpur, New Delhi).
It was further alleged that an accused (mastermind) resident of Gautamnagar, Delhi in conspiracy with others including some candidates were involved in arranging solvers to impersonate themselves as those candidates in the said examination at several examination centers of Delhi and Haryana.
It was also alleged that the user IDs and passwords of the certain candidates appearing for the examination had been collected by the said persons & their associates and necessary modifications were made for getting desired examination centers as planned by them.
They also allegedly used the process of mixing/morphing photographs to facilitate use of proxy candidates for appearing in the examination.
Copies of Identity Cards of such candidates were being collected for the purpose of making forged ID cards.
During investigation of the case, the mastermind and solvers were caught from different examination centers & other place of Delhi and Haryana while appearing/impersonating as other candidate.
Two solvers were caught from center at Sector-81, Faridabad ; another solver from examination center at a school in Havelock Square, New Delhi & the mastermind was also apprehended from outside the said school ; another solver from examination center at a school in Kundan Colony, Ballabhgarh (Haryana) ; another solver from examination center at a Senior Secondary School, Patparganj, New Delhi ; one solver from examination center at Govt. Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, Shakurpur, New Delhi and another person who was caught from the hostel of Safdarjung Hospital did not appear in the examination, however, forged Aadhar card of the candidate & other incriminating documents were recovered from him.
All the arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court at Delhi, the official note of CBI said.
