A wildlife activist has written to the Central Zoo Authority for taking necessary action into the incident of bursting cracker within 5 kilometers of Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh during Diwali festival.

Wildlife Activist Ajay Dubey of Bhopal has quoted a news item published in a local daily of Bhopal about bursting cracker within the 5 kilometers surrounding Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal during Diwali festival.

Dubey said the Central Zoo Authority to the Chief Wildlife Warden of all states and local bodies to constitute a local advisory committee comprising of all stakeholders to review and monitor all tourists facilities, noise pollution norms, environmental safegaurds, etc. within 5 kilometers radius of the zoo.

Apart from this, there were other instructions too, he said.

In Bhopal no such committee exists as according to the circular of Central Zoo Authority dated 15.11.2016. This circular was concerned to all recognised zoos in the country under section 38H of Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.

He sought strict action of bursting crackers near eco-sensitive zone – Van Vihar.
