‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in the leading role, has earned Rs 212.78 crore in its 31-day run at the box-office. The film has now beaten a major Baahubali 2 record.
Directed by Aditya Dhar ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles is a film based on the true events from the year 2016 when the Indian Army was attacked at Uri, a town in jammu & Kashmir, by the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed. The 2016 Uri attacks are reported as one the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades.
The film neatly depicts the how the surgical strike was well-planned and successfully conducted by the Indian Army. Total 35-50 terrorists were reportedly killed in the covert operation, in retaliation to the terrorist attack in Uri that killed 19 Indian soldiers. Subsequently, Pakistan denied the incident.
As per reports on BoxofficeIndia.com, the film did a record collection of Rs 4.50 crore on Saturday, taking its total to the Rs 200 crore mark.
The business of the film is still going very strong in its fifth week.
The film had collected a total of Rs 71.23 crore at the box office only in its first week. The second-week collection stands at a total of Rs 62.76 crore. The film collected a total of Rs 37.06 crore at the box office on its third week. The film collected an insane 29.30 crore in its fourth week.
With this, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ has added another feather to its crown. Making an earning of Rs 12.37 crore in its fifth weekend, it has now beaten the Hindi version of Baahubali 2 (Rs 6.97 crore) to become the highest Weekend 5-grosser ever.
Based on the surgical strikes conducted in 2016 by the Indian Army, the film is a dramatization of the Army’s operation against terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in 2016, in retaliation to an attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri that killed 17 Army personnel.
“How is the Josh” – the catchy phrase from this film has been going viral on the Internet and it even made a debut in Parliament house with Union Minister Piyush Goyal’s budget speech.
Apart from Yami Gautam and Vicky Kaushal, the film also stars Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal and Kirti Kulhari in pivotal roles.
