The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in Mumbai has charged Bollywood actress Gauhar Khan with violating the state’s Covid-19 regulations. Despite being positive for the Coronavirus, she was said to be working on a movie set.

“Gauhar has been charged with breaking COVID laws. She tested positive for coronavirus and was expected to stay at home and quarantine, but instead went on a film shoot, according to a BMC official cited by ToI.

When civic officials came to her house to place a home quarantine stamp on it, she declined to open the gates, according to sources. “When we called her, she returned home after ten minutes and said she had done a test and was now negative,” one official told India Today. However, we told her that this is not the case. This isn’t a responsible way to act. Her reaction was that of non-cooperation.”

“A case has been reported against a film actress who was seen in a public place despite being suffering from Covid19,” the BMC said in a press release. Not only was the actress out and about in public, but she was also taking part in film shoots… There are also plans in the works to admit them to the municipal separation join… Officials from the BMC’s health department in the ‘K West’ division have filed a criminal report. Sections 188, 269, and 270 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as sections 2 and 3 of the Communicable Diseases Control Act, have been filed by the police.”

“The laws apply to all alike,” the BMC said on Twitter, without calling Gauhar Khan, “and we encourage people to follow all instructions and help the city beat the virus.” Gauhar Khan was charged under many provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 269 and 270. The FIR was filed at the Mumbai police station of Oshiwara.

The Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc on Maharashtra. In terms of reported cases and deaths caused by Covid-19, it continues to lead the world.

In the wake of a spike in cases in Maharashtra, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray warned against a “lackadaisical” approach to pandemic guidelines.

“Do not place us in the position of having to enforce a tight lockout.” Take this as your last warning. Follow all of the guidelines. On Saturday, CM Thackeray said, “Everyone must realize there is a distinction between self-discipline and constraints.”
