The BJP won large-scale in the local corporate elections in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP took 67 seats at the election of Zila panchayat chairman, which involved 75. The party of Mr. Yadav has only gained five places. A seat was gained by Rashtriya Lok Dal, Jansatta Dal, and a freelancer.
Mr Yadav’s party, by comparison, got 60 out of 75 seats in 2016 in the same election. However, the polls of the local authorities are not expected to indicate the direction in which the wind will blow at the assembly next year’s election, which will also serve as the last test of BJP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
However, the elections for local authorities are closely monitored.
Police baton charge was received by the Samajwadi People’s Party that today conducted a public demonstration claiming fabrication of local body elections in Prayagraj, formerly Allahabad.
The triumph was tweeted by Premier Narendra Modi: “The UP District Panchayat elections were the magnificent success of BJP, and the people were given their blessing for development, public service, and the rule of law. This is credited with President Yogi Adityanath’s policies and the untiring hard work of the party activists.”
“The BJP has won 67 out of 75 district panchayat chairperson seats. We will win 2022 assembly elections also,” UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh told news agency ANI.
21 BJP candidates and one Samajwadi Party candidate have previously been elected unreservedly. There are about 3,000 members in Uttar Pradesh Zila panchayat. The selected presidents will be the 75 districts of the state.
The Bahujan Samaj Party of Mayawati did not compete against local body elections.
Leaders in municipal elections are not new to be elected without opposition in the UP. Half of Samaiwadi’s 60 seats in 2016 were elected by an uncontested vote in the zila panchayat poll. At that time, Mr Yadav was the CEO. A year later, in the assembly election BJP swept the state.
