Ram Swaroop Sharma, a BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh, was found dead at his Delhi home today, police said, adding that they are investigating whether it was a suicide.
Mr. Sharma, 62, was discovered hanged in his bed, according to Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
The police said it seemed to be a suicide at first glance, but that no suicide note had been identified at the scene.
Mr. Sharma’s personal assistant notified the police control room after the parliamentarian did not return his message, according to police officials. A police squad was sent to his home right away, forcing open the door and discovering Mr. Sharma dangling from a ceiling fan.
The causes of the death are still being investigated, according to police.

Sharma, who was born on June 10, 1958, in Mandi’s Jalpehar village, was a two-time Member of Parliament for the district. In 2014 and 2019, he was elected to the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha, respectively.
Sharma was a member of the ministry of external affairs’ standing committee on external affairs and consultative committee.
Meanwhile, after the death of the BJP MP, the BJP parliamentary party’s meeting scheduled for today has been canceled.
Sharma was elected in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency. He was a member of the Ministry of External Relations’ Standing Committee on External Affairs and the Consultative Committee
Sharma received his first injection of the COVID-19 vaccine last week, on March 13.
Sharma, who was born on June 10, 1958, in Jalpehar village in the Mandi district, was a two-time Member of Parliament, elected in 2014 and 2019.
