We welcome you to our very new segment of Political Twist, where the stories are quite hatke. The story mix with Entertainment and Facts and today we are with the theme of population control policy.
Ministers in Madhya Pradesh are in favor of the population control policy similar to the one recently introduced in Uttar Pradesh but more than 80 MLAs in the state have more than three children. Out of which 49 are of the BJP.
There is a growing chorus among the BJP leaders in the state to limit the number of children produced, with a focus on Muslim families. However, 13 out of 31 ministers in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet have more than three children.
BJP’s Singrauli MLA Ram Lallu Vaishya, with nine children, has said, “Our policy was ‘we two and our two’ but did it succeed? Hindus were asked to do vasectomy, but others were left free. This should not happen.”
Congress has 95 MLAs out of which 33 have three or more children. The party’s MLA from Petlawad, Wal Singh Meda, also has nine children.
The state’s Rural Development Minister Mahinder Sisodia said on Sunday, “There are already many laws to control the population, but Uniform Civil Code has to be implemented because Muslims marry two-three times and produce 10 kids. There should be a limit on the number of children produced irrespective of the caste or religion that one belongs to.”
In response to BJP, Congress MLA from Bhopal Arif Masood said, “At the time of Independence the country’s population was close to 40 crores our of which 12 crores were Muslims. Now, the country’s population is over 130 crores and the Muslim population stands at around 25 crores. So there are more than 100 crore non-Muslims in the country.”
