Kiran Pal Singh, the father of India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, died on Thursday at his Meerut home. The 63-year-old was receiving treatment for cancer and was still suffering from liver problems, but his health began to deteriorate two weeks ago.
The former Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspector chose to resign voluntarily from his position. When Bhuvneshwar was playing in the UAE for last year’s IPL, he was diagnosed with liver cancer in September 2020.
Singh was receiving treatment at the All Institute of Medical Science in New Delhi, including chemotherapy, after consultation with doctors in the United Kingdom.
His father’s health worsened a few weeks ago, and he was admitted to a hospital in Meerut’s Ganga Nagar. Kiran Pal Singh passed away two days after being released from the hospital.
His wife Indresh Devi, as well as his son and daughter Bhuvneshwar and Rekha, survive him.
Bhuvneshwar was not selected for the England tour, which includes the World Test Championship final and a five-match Test series against hosts England. In July, he is expected to fly to Sri Lanka with a limited-overs team. During this time, India’s Test regulars will be in England, preparing for the 5-Test series.
Before the IPL 2021 was suspended due to increasing COVID cases within the bio bubbles, Bhuvneshwar was a member of the SRH team. Bhuvneshwar was said to be uninterested in playing Test cricket after being left out of the squad. He snuffed them out, claiming that he still trains for all three formats, regardless of which one is chosen.
Piyush Chawla’s father died of covid complications last week, while RP Singh’s father died of the virus. India has been in the news recently. Priya Punia, a female cricketer, lost her mother to COVID. Chetan Sakariya, a young Rajasthan Royals pacer, also lost his father to the virus. The pandemic claimed the lives of Veda Krishnamurthy’s mother and sister.
