eThe police has arrested a 21-year-old student doing a journalism course for blackmailing Congress legislator Hemant Katare for demanding two crore rupees. The court sent the accused student to judicial custody for 14 days.
Additional Superintendent of Police (crime branch) Rashmi Mishra said on Friday that on the complaint of Katare, the student was arrested on 24th January for taking a sum of five lakh rupees from the MLA. The accused blackmailed Katara with a video asking for a sum of Rs 2 crore. Mishra said that the MLA complained to the police by giving a fake fictitious donation of 25 lakh rupees to the student and later planning with the police and arresting him with dyed hands.
She said that the accused told that in the interrogation that she had conspired to frustrate a huge amount by blackmailing Katara on the say of another partner Vikramjit Singh. Mishra said that the case is being investigated by registering a case against Vikramjit. Congressional Hemant Katare said that the case is being investigated by registering a case against Vikramjit.
