In an attempt to combat the raging COVID-19 pandemic in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared that it would donate 2000 10-Litre oxygen concentrators. “The BCCI will donate 10-liter 2000 oxygen concentrators to help India combat the COVID-19 pandemic.” The announcement coincides with the rising demand for medical supplies, including oxygen concentrators, in India, which is still reeling from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic’s second wave.
“The BCCI recognises the stellar role the medical and healthcare sector has played and continues to play as we fight this long war against the virus,” president Sourav Ganguly said in an official BCCI statement.
“They have truly been frontline warriors and have done whatever possible to shield us. The Board has always put health and safety at the top of the chart and remains committed to the cause,” Ganguly added.
“The oxygen concentrators will provide immediate relief to those affected and will help in their speedy recovery,” he concluded.
Jay Shah, the BCCI’s Honorary Secretary, said that the BCCI was fighting the pandemic “shoulder to shoulder.” “In this joint battle against the virus, we stand shoulder to shoulder,” Shah said.
He added that the BCCI recognises the urgent need for medical equipment in this time of crisis and hopes that this initiative would aid in closing the demand-supply gap that has arisen across the world.
