Five individuals, including a woman, have been detained in Bengaluru after allegedly raping and recording a lady. Ramamurthy police station has been notified of the incident.
The Bengaluru Police claimed in a statement that the victim had been sexually molested and tormented, and that the offenders had also taped the crime.
The victim and the five defendants are all Bangladeshi nationals, according to preliminary inquiry. According to police, the victim was taken to India as a result of human trafficking.
The authorities are attempting to locate the victim and attempting to persuade her to cooperate with the investigation. The time and place of the crime are unknown.
Police said the accused will be produced before a court on Friday.
“Based on the contents of the video and preliminary investigation, a case of rape and assault has been registered against six persons, including two women at Ramamurthy Nagar police station. A police team has also been deputed to an adjoining state to trace the victim so that she could join the investigation,” Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said in a tweet.
He added that based on the information gathered so far, “all of them are part of the same group and are believed to be from Bangladesh”.
“The victim, who is also a Bangladeshi, was brought to India for trafficking and was tortured and brutalized due to a financial matter,” Pant said, adding the investigation is being carried with “full earnestness” and under the supervision of senior officers.
