Union Minister Babul Supriyo announced on Sunday that he and his wife tested positive for COVID-19 and would be unable to vote in Asansol on April 26.
Supriyo was found to be infected with the virus for the second time.
He did, however, say that he will be with the BJP candidates in the Asansol area mentally and will keep an eye on the situation from home.
“My wife and I both tested positive. For the second time!! I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to vote in Asansol. I wanted to be on the road as well for the 26th polls, where ‘desperate’ @AITCofficial goons had already unleashed their terror machines to threaten free and fair elections “Supriyo sent out a tweet.
“However, the #TMchhi terror machinery, which I have treated (well) since 2014, does not rejoice,” he said in a series of tweets. “Will b doing my duties from my room & bright by my candidates mentally in every way possible to ensure 9/9 seats there.”
