After the Indian Medical Association filed a defamation suit against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and demanded a FIR under the sedation law, he and his premier institution Patanjali have landed in yet another controversy.
Patanjali Gurukul was accused of abusing children by detaining four children from Gariyaband, Chhattisgarh, who were in need of money.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted on Friday: “I have received a complaint that four children of Chhattisgarh were detained in Patanjali Gurukul. On the intervention of Gariyaband Collector and Superintendent of Police, the detained children were freed. I pray for their bright future,” he added.
According to SP Gariyaband Bhojram Patel, district police acted quickly after learning of the children’s detention in Gurukulam Haridwar, and the children were safely rescued with the help of the Haridwar administration.
The parents of the students had already deposited Rs 2,60,000 with the institute at the time of admission, according to a complaint filed with the Haridwar district magistrate on May 26. However, when they requested that their children be allowed to return home, they were allegedly asked to pay more money.
