Athiya captioned the photo, “Grateful for you, happy birthday.” Suniel Shetty, Athiya’s dad, took to the comments section and said, “Truly,” with a black heart emoji. “My cuties,” said fellow Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya.
Rahul turned 29 on April 18th. Rahul, who is currently the captain of the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, will be in action on Sunday as the Punjab Kings take on the Delhi Capitals in Mumbai.
Many members of the cricket fraternity, including India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Yuvraj Singh, wished Rahul on his birthday. Both the Punjab Kings and the BCCI expressed their best wishes on social media. Rahul’s former IPL staff, RCB, took to Twitter to express their best wishes.
Rahul made his debut for India in the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne in 2014. He scored his first Test century in just his second match, the New Year’s Test in Sydney in 2015.
Since then, the right-handed batsman has appeared in 36 Tests, 38 One-Day Internationals, and 49 Twenty20 Internationals for India.
Rahul transitioned from a Test specialist to an all-formats batsman in his early years, and he has now established himself in India’s limited-overs teams while still becoming a member of the Test squad.
He has also played for India, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, and was India’s first-choice limited-overs wicket-keeper until recently.
Rahul’s Punjab Kings have won one and lost one of their two IPL games so far, and Rahul has already scored a half-century – a magnificent 91 against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai in the Punjab Kings’ IPL season opener.
