A series of ceremonies are being held in Madhya Pradesh in honour of tribal martyrs King Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah.
Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will also be present at these events.
Various programmes are being held in Jabalpur under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from the day of their arrest till the day of their martyrdom.
In 1857, during the first battle of independence against British control, King Shankar Shah and his son Kunwar Raghunath Shah of the Gondwana kingdom were sacrificed by blowing from a gun. The key truth is that King Shankar Shah determined the penalty himself. This was the first time any royal family in the kingdom had made a sacrifice.
From the 14th to the 18th of September, various programmes will be held daily to educate the new generation about the martyr duo’s sacrifice. On the 18th of September, the sacrifice day of King Shankar Shah-Kunwar Raghunath Shah, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address around 3000 tribal peoples in Jabalpur during a pride event of tribal heroes.
Other notable activities include a representation of King Shankar shah and Kunwar Raghunath shah’s arrest, a painting and photography exhibition on the Gond history, traditional folk songs, and a marathon.
