In response to an increase in COVID cases in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered the establishment of a night curfew in Bhopal and Indore beginning tomorrow. The chief minister, who described the increase in COVID cases as worrying, said that although his government does not want to go into lockdown, imposing a night curfew in certain regions, such as Indore and Bhopal, seems inevitable.
The market will remain closed after 10 pm in 8 cities of the state, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Betul, Khargone. There will be no curfew-like situation in these cities but the market will inevitably remain closed
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, presided over a meeting of the state Cabinet today to determine the state’s Covid-19 condition.
“The way Covid-19 positive cases are increasing in the state, it is becoming a matter of concern for us… I appeal to the public to take this pandemic seriously, wear masks and follow all the rules,” the Chief Minister had said earlier today.
People arriving in the state by air, rail, or road from Maharashtra, which contributes the most cases to India’s daily count, should be thermally scanned, according to the CM.
The decision has been taken after a noticeable surge in the cases of covid in both the major cities of Madhya Pradesh that is Bhopal and Indore.
Some days prior CM Shivraj gave us the hint about a potential night curfew in the state, showing his concern about the rise in covid as there are many travelers from the neighboring state of Maharashtra
Meanwhile, the state of Madhya Pradesh recorded 743 new cases and two deaths in the previous 24 hours on Sunday. Indore continued to have the highest number of cases in the state, with 263 new cases and one death, followed by Bhopal with 139 new cases and one death.
Jabalpur (45 cases), Gwalior (30 cases), Ratlam and Ujjain (24 cases each), Burhanpur (23 cases), Chhindwara (22 cases), Khargone (18 cases), and Betul (16 cases) were among the other districts that recorded significant numbers of cases.
The state’s overall positivity rate for new cases was 4.5 percent, but Indore’s frequent positivity rate remained between 8 and 9 percent.
