According to a media report on Thursday, as the Taliban gains strength in Afghanistan by conquering numerous strategic cities, the terror group is reportedly forcing women to marry its militants.

In the Taliban’s newly acquired territories, Afghans are also witnessing the Taliban’s execution of captive soldiers and unprovoked attacks on civilians.

Afghans fleeing to Kabul and others still in Taliban-controlled territory say they have witnessed unjustified attacks on civilians and the death of captured soldiers. Furthermore, they claim that the Taliban has requested that villages hand over unmarried women to serve as “wife” for their terrorists — a kind of sexual abuse, according to human-rights organizations, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The Taliban had openly sworn to be magnanimous in triumph, assuring Afghan government officials, troops, and citizens that they had nothing to fear as they take control of ever-larger areas of the country. Their actions, however, contradict this, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The US Embassy in Kabul chastised the Taliban on Thursday after receiving reports of Taliban executions of Afghan military personnel who had surrendered. On Twitter, the embassy stated, “Deeply worrisome & possibly constitute war crimes.” Many significant cities in the region have fallen under Taliban control The extremist group claimed control of Kandahar, the country’s second-largest city, on Thursday night, after taking the governor’s office and other government facilities. The extremist group has so far taken control of 12 provincial capitals across the country.

The terror group is waging a large-scale battle with Afghan government forces in an attempt to conquer key cities and seize control following the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan under a peace agreement negotiated by the Taliban and Washington.
