Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that an all-religion prayer meeting is a programme to remember the memorable events related to great men and to implement their high ideals in one’s life. Taking inspiration from the ideals of lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri and following them is a true and meaningful tribute to them.
Governor Shri Patel was addressing the public meeting after the all-religion prayer meeting organised at Gandhi Bhawan today. The gathering was organised by the Gandhi Bhavan Trust on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Governor Shri Patel said that the programme organised in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri is an opportunity to understand their moral values and ideals and implement them in our lives. He said that Gandhiji’s favourite bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jana To Tene Kahiye Je Peer Parai Jaane Re’ tells how a true, good man should be.
Governor Shri Patel said that every line of the bhajan talks about those qualities which are the basis of humanity. To sing the bhajan and be determined to bring its sentiments to life is to pay tribute to Gandhiji. He said that it is the responsibility for everyone to inspire children and future generations by imbibing the life values of Gandhiji and Shastriji. Parents have huge responsibility of educating their children. Children learn by observing their actions and behaviour.
In the programme, Governor Shri Patel awarded the winning students of the “Come Know Gandhi” competitions organised from 25 to 29 September during the Gandhi Jayanti week. It was told in the programme that Himanshi Shevani, a student Navniddh Higher Secondary School Sant Hirdaram, Bhopal won the first prize in the essay competition on “Environment and Gandhi”, Aditi Tiwari, student of Baby Convent Higher Secondary School Bhopal, got second and Tanya Sen, student of Khalsa Higher Secondary School, Bhopal, received the third prize.
Khushi Gupta, student of Khalsa Higher Secondary School, Bhopal won the first prize in painting competition based on climate change, Devnarayan, student of Red Rose Higher Secondary School, Karond Bhopal got second place, Khushi Bhatt, a student of Navniddh Higher Secondary School Sant Hirdaram Nagar Bhopal got the third prize.
Sana Khan, student of Scholars Home Public School, Bhopal, got first place in Bapu’s Motivational Story Competition, Bhuvanesh Makoria, student of Khalsa Higher Secondary School, Bhopal got second, Tayyaba, a student of Baby Convent Higher Secondary School, Bhopal, got the third prize. In Bapu’s favourite bhajan competition, Vansh Samaiya student of Jawahar Lal Nehru Higher Secondary School, BHEL, Bhopal, got first place, Abdullah Arif, student of Red Rose Higher Secondary School, Sindhi Colony, Bhopal, second, Navni Shrivastava, a student of Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School, Bhopal, got the third prize. In the patriotic group song competition, Red Rose Higher Secondary School, stood first, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Higher Secondary School got second and Kamla Nehru Higher Secondary School Bhopal received the third prize.
On reaching Gandhi Bhavan, Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel paid tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding it and offering flowers. He visited the photo exhibition and paid homage at the Gandhiji’s memorial.
Shri Patel took part in the all-religion prayer meeting and rendition of Gandhi’s favourite hymns ‘Vaishnava Jana To Tene Kahiye Re” and ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’. In the programme, Gandhi’s message was broadcast in his original voice. The Governor was presented a spinning wheel by the Trust. The vote of thanks was expressed by Shri Rajesh Badal, Trustee of Gandhi Bhavan Trust.
