The Narcotics Control Bureau seized huge amounts of illicit drugs from actor Gaurav Dixit’s home after his name came up during the questioning of former Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan in a drugs case.
Gaurav Dixit, who has appeared in a few small films and played minor roles on television, is on the lam, according to officials.
On Friday evening, when the actor was not at home, the anti-drug department raided his apartment in Mumbai’s Lokhandwala. MD, MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy), and hashish were discovered in the flat. At the actor’s home, packaging materials for the drugs were also discovered.
As the actor and his flatmate, a foreign national lady returned to their building and saw the NCB squad, they fled the scene.
The NCB arrested actor Ajaz Khan on Wednesday, a day after he was detained for questioning over restricted drugs discovered at his home. During searches in the city’s Andheri and Lokhandwala districts, the agency said it discovered alprazolam tablets at his home.
Mr Khan insisted to reporters that he was not guilty. When constantly questioned about the drugs discovered at his home, he said, “There is nothing. Inquire where they got it… they got four sleeping tablets. My wife was depressed after miscarrying. She has been taking those pills.”
Gaurav Dixit’s name came up during his subsequent questioning, and the NCB raided his home.
The NCB has tightened the screws on the suspected Bollywood-narcotics syndicate in recent months, conducting raids, interrogations, and arrests in this regard. The inquiries are related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput last year.
The NCB has investigated many industry A-listers, including Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Shraddha Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan.
Gaurav Dixit has two films to his name: ‘Marudhar Express’ and ‘Diary of a Butterfly.’
