Governor Mangubhai Patel participated in the felicitation ceremony of Madhya Pradesh Police and Home Guard officers-employees and brave citizens who were decorated with President’s and Jeevan Raksha Medals for gallantry, distinguished and meritorious services organised at the Raj Bhavan.
Governor Patel said that active police in a democratic system is the basis of a strong society. The police have to adapt to the changing times.
He extended best wishes and congratulations to all the medal recipients and their families.
Governor Patel said that by winning the medal, the image of Madhya Pradesh Police’s activism and sensitivity will become stronger, which will inspire other officers and employees of the police force.
He said that service and help of the common man should be the top priority for the police.
Governor Patel said that there should be such environment in the society in which mutual trust between the police and the citizens remains strong.
The policy of zero tolerance towards crimes against Divyang, senior citizens, women and children should be implemented with full sincerity and intensity, he said.
He expressed happiness over the effective efforts of advanced technology towards modernization and skill upgradation of police.
Patel hailed the good work and initiatives being taken at the government level for police welfare, helping the victims with Dial 100 vehicle, setting up of women’s police stations in all the districts and 950 women’s energy desks.
He congratulated Madhya Pradesh Police for the effective action taken in the direction of Naxal eradication and the unprecedented successes achieved in the recent years.
Governor Patel said that along with maintaining law and order, the police should further strengthen their public-friendly and sensitive image.
The Police should come forward and fulfill the responsibility of social welfare, providing justice to the victims and protecting the common people from anti-social elements.
On this occasion, Director General of Police Sudhir Saxena gave brief information about the achievements of 64 police-home guard officers and employees and 2 brave citizens, who received Gallantry, Distinguished and Meritorious Service Medal and Jeevan Raksha Medal by the President. Principal Secretary to Governor DP Ahuja, Director General of Police Jail Arvind Kumar, Director General of Police Home Guard Rajesh Chawla, medal recipient officers-employees, brave citizens and their families were present in the ceremony.
