New Delhi: ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ starring Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna is witnessing continuous downfall in the collections. The film is based on the book of the same name by ex-media adviser of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sanjaya Baru. Anupam Kher plays the role of former PM Manmohan Singh in the film. The movie has failed to impress the audience apart from all the likelihood of the cast to real-life politicians which prompted the audience to watch the film. The film released on 11 January.
According to the latest report by BoxofficeIndia.com, on Wednesday, the film has managed to collect Rs 1.10 crore on its sixth day at the box office. The film has till now managed to collect a total of Rs 16.60 crore in six days at the box office.
‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ will release in Tamil and Telugu languages on January 18. The movie will face competition from Ram Charan’s ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’, Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ and also from Yash starrer ‘KGF: Chapter 1’.
The film has been at the receiving end of backslash for allegedly attacking the opposition Congress party in the run-up to the general elections. The film also claims that the then-Congress president Sonia Gandhi controlled the functioning of the Prime Minister’s Office during the two-term tenure of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, the film is written by Mayank Tewari and is based on the 2014 memoir of the same name by Sanjaya Baru. The film is produced by Sunil Bohra and Dhaval Gada. The film also stars Suzanne Bernert, Aahana Kumra, and Arjun Mathu
